Consultation 2021: Building a New Community

1/2

At the heart of the neighbourhood will be a new centre and adjacent employment areas. The new centre will be designed to accommodate a range of new community spaces and facilities - pedestrian focused with shops, amenities and flexible spaces where people can meet, socialise and hold community events.

Located centrally within the neighbourhood centre, the community spaces will be within 15-minute active journey of all homes and employment areas.

Neighbourhood centre will also serve residents and workers from the nearby employment areas with:

  • A foodstore
  • A Secondary School (with potential to expand in future)
  • A Primary School
  • Nursery
  • A new Community hub - with the opportunity to accommodate a range of facilities that will support healthy communities
  • Community centre
  • Local shops - newsagent / hairdresser
  • Local restaurants / cafes and pubs
  • An Integrated Public Transport hub
  • Homes England is the government's housing accelerator, we work to ensure more people in England have access to better homes and facilities in the right places. We have a long-term commitment to creating great places to live, investing early in infrastructure and we have a strong track record of delivery.

We are proposing to support the early delivery of a new secondary school, flexible community and employment spaces alongside the first phase of new homes and open spaces. At the same time, we will be building the first stretch of the Crawley Western Link.
